how it works?

Permanent makeup works by expertly depositing high-quality cosmetic pigments into the upper dermal layer of the skin using specialized manual hand-tools or digital machines. Microblading creates realistic, fine hair strokes; ombre brows provide a soft, powdered makeup finish; and combo brows blend the best of both techniques. For the lips, lip blush and neutralization techniques gently layer pigment to restore vibrance and balance tone.

Safety measures

Safety and hygiene are our absolute top priorities. All permanent makeup treatments at Reimagine Clinic are performed in a sterile, clinical environment by certified artists using 100% disposable, single-use needles and premium, health-compliant pigments. Every appointment includes a thorough skin assessment, custom mapping so you approve the shape before we begin, and the application of effective topical numbing agents for your comfort. We follow strict bloodborne pathogen protocols and sanitation guidelines to ensure a secure, safe experience and beautifully healed, natural-looking results.

Permanent Makeup In Depth

Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is a revolutionary technique that involves depositing pigment into the skin to enhance facial features. This popular cosmetic procedure can create natural-looking eyebrows, eyeliner, lip color, and other facial enhancements. For those who want to save time on their daily makeup routine, struggle with applying traditional makeup, or have medical conditions affecting their appearance, permanent makeup offers a convenient and effective solution. By subtly enhancing your facial features, permanent makeup ensures you look your best at all times.

The origins of permanent makeup

When the words “permanent makeup” or “semi-permanent makeup” are spoken, many people’s minds tend to wander towards “tattoo”. Yet, it’s important to understand that permanent makeup is an entity distinct from traditional tattooing.

Permanent cosmetics represent a fascinating domain where tattoos are artistically leveraged to simulate eye liner, lip liner, eyebrows, or even hair. A specialized branch of this, known as paramedical permanent makeup, applies the concept of cosmetic tattooing to mask skin abnormalities like scars or vitiligo. Interestingly, this unique tattooing technique can also come to the rescue to restore or enhance a woman’s areola post a breast surgery or mastectomy. Medical tattooing plays a crucial role in areola restoration post-mastectomy and scar camouflage. Scar camouflage is a technique aimed at minimizing visible scarring, particularly after surgical procedures.

Delving into the world of Permanent Cosmetics, one finds it requiring a specialized education and training regimen. This field, in essence, is a harmonious blend of dexterity, artistic flair, technical aptitude, and clear communication with the client. It is these factors that collaboratively shape the final appearance of the cosmetic procedure. In various professional circles, permanent cosmetics are referred to as ‘derma pigmentation’, ‘micro pigmentation’ or ‘cosmetic tattooing’.

The roots of Micropigmentation extend far back into history, with this practice being in use for thousands of years. Archeological evidence bears witness to tattoos on bodies dating as far back as 3300 B.C. Various cultures across epochs, be it the Egyptians, Nubians, Incas, Mayans, Aztecs, or Greeks, have embraced tattooing as a marker of beauty, prestige, and individual identity. This tradition has held its ground and continues to flourish even today.

It was in the year 1902 that the modern application of permanent makeup was pioneered by Sutherland MacDonald in his tattoo parlor in London. Mr. MacDonald made a name for himself by tattooing a captivating ‘all round delicate pink complexion’ onto the cheeks of his clients. George Burchett took the reins from him in the 1930s, evolving into a major developer of this tattooing technique.

In the current scenario, permanent makeup has carved out its niche within the beauty industry, standing out as a distinct category in its own right. Everything, ranging from the underlying techniques to the tools employed, and even the pigments approved for use, has undergone significant evolution. One of the novel trends in this space is scalp micropigmentation, where the tattoo artist leverages their skills to replicate the appearance of hair follicles.

Cosmetic Tattooing in depth

Cosmetic tattooing, one of the most prevalent permanent makeup procedures, has become a trendsetter in today’s beauty industry. Its immense popularity over the years has made it a versatile procedure, which can be applied to almost any facial feature.

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, dermapigmentation, or more simply, cosmetic tattooing, is a procedure that involves the use of micro-needles. These needles deposit pigment into the basal layer of the skin, the deepest layer of the epidermis. The success of a permanent makeup procedure rests on the shoulders of a skilled permanent makeup artist. The artist requires a high-quality digital permanent makeup machine that operates with minimal vibration, employs sterile needles, and works in conjunction with a topical anesthetic. The role of a variety of pigments and medical-grade supplies such as gloves, masks, wipes, cotton swabs, etc., is also crucial. Matching the tattoo pigment to the client’s healthy skin tone is essential during procedures aimed at camouflaging or correcting skin irregularities. Working with scar tissue presents unique challenges and requires specialized techniques. A thorough understanding of skin anatomy is vital for effective medical tattooing. Medical tattooing also enhances the appearance of the surrounding skin by matching the color and texture, resulting in a more natural look.

At Reimagine Clinic, we offer a diverse range of permanent makeup styles, from microblading to lip blushing. We are widely recognized as the leading permanent makeup practitioners in the Montreal region, known for our exceptional service and results.

Microblading and Ombré Brows

Microblading and Ombré brows are two of the most sought-after techniques in the realm of permanent makeup, designed to create beautifully natural-looking eyebrows. Microblading uses a small blade to deposit pigment into the skin, crafting individual hair strokes that mimic the appearance of real eyebrows. This technique is perfect for those seeking a more defined and fuller brow. On the other hand, Ombré brows employ a gradual transition of color, resulting in a soft, powdery finish that looks incredibly natural. Both methods can be customized to match your preferences and skin type, ensuring your brows complement your unique facial features.

The Emergence of Lip Blush Treatment

Lip blushing tattoo has surged as one of the most in-demand forms of permanent lip makeup across the globe. It provides a constant lip color, giving an impression of wearing lipstick all the time. The lip blush treatment involves minimal discomfort due to the use of numbing cream. It helps individuals with asymmetrical lips or those seeking to conceal effects from medical conditions. Lip blushing aims to create a natural appearance by subtly enhancing the lips. Lip blushing allows numerous possibilities for shaping your natural lips to your liking, making it one of the most advanced PMU treatments.

Pain Management and Aftercare

Pain management and aftercare are pivotal components of any permanent makeup procedure. To ensure a comfortable experience, topical anesthetics like lidocaine are often applied to minimize discomfort during the process. Post-procedure, following a meticulous aftercare routine is essential for optimal healing and pigment retention. This includes avoiding direct sunlight, using gentle cleansers, and applying topical creams to promote the healing process. Proper aftercare not only ensures the longevity of your permanent makeup but also helps maintain the vibrancy and clarity of the pigment.

Benefits of Permanent Makeup

The benefits of permanent makeup are manifold, making it a highly appealing option for many. One of the primary advantages is the convenience it offers, eliminating the need for daily makeup application. Permanent makeup provides natural-looking results that can enhance your facial features, giving you a more defined and youthful appearance. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with medical conditions such as alopecia or vitiligo, as well as those with fair or sensitive skin. With proper care and maintenance, the effects of permanent makeup can last for several years, making it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to enhance their natural beauty.

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow technique that uses a handheld tool with ultra-fine needles to create individual, hair-like strokes in the skin. Each stroke is meticulously placed to mimic the direction and pattern of natural brow hairs, resulting in fuller, more defined eyebrows that look completely natural.

Ombre brows also called powder brows or shaded brows are a semi-permanent technique that creates a soft, powdery, gradient effect on the eyebrows. The result mimics the look of filled-in brows using makeup, with a lighter shade at the front of the brow that gradually deepens toward the tail.

Combo brows combine the best of both techniques: microblading hair strokes at the front of the brow for a natural, soft start, and ombre/powder shading through the body and tail for defined structure and depth. The result is a brow that looks natural at the inner corners and polished through the arch and tail.

Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that adds a wash of natural-looking color to the lips. The artist deposits pigment into the lip tissue using a PMU device, enhancing the lips’ natural shape, adding definition to the lip border, correcting asymmetry, and creating a subtle, flushed color like a tinted lip balm that never wears off.

Dark lip neutralization is a specialized semi-permanent makeup technique designed to correct and lighten naturally dark, hyperpigmented, or uneven lip color. Using corrective pigments (typically warm orange or peach tones), the artist neutralizes the excess melanin in the lip tissue, gradually bringing the lips to a lighter, more even base. Once neutralized, a lip blush color can be layered on top for the desired final shade.
