WHO ARE THEY FOR?

Superficial Level 1 Peels are safe and effective on all skin types and can be applied to the face, neck, and body.

Medium-depth Level 2 & 3 Chemical Peels are ideal for those who want more dramatic results than a Superficial Peel can offer but wish to avoid the risk and recovery time associated with deeper peels.

Level 4 (TCA) Peels are ideal for those with severe skin concerns/irregularities. Recovery time is moderate (Up to 2 weeks).

ARE THERE ANY IMMEDIATE SIDE EFFECTS?

After a Chemical Peel treatment, you can expect mild swelling, redness, crusting/scabbing, cracking, flaking, and peeling. Often skin may also turn a darker shade and become stiff before it begins the peeling process. The downtime before your skin is restored can be anywhere from 2 to 7 days depending on how quickly your skin heals.

You will physically be able to return to normal activities immediately following treatment; however, your appearance may deter you from wanting to be seen in public. You should be able to comfortably return to the public eye within 2/3 days. You will maintain a flushed appearance that will fade slowly over the course of several days post treatment.

Taking caution to properly moisturize skin before and after treatment will dramatically lessen the effects. No makeup for at least 3 days after the initial treatment.

WHAT ARE THE ANTICIPATED RESULTS?

It takes the skin approximately 5 days to heal itself after a Superficial Peel, at which point you will start to see first signs of results that will maximize after a week post treatment.

Results include minimized pores, fine lines, sun damage, and acne, and moderate improvements in tone, texture, and coloration. Skin will appear tighter, smoother, more even, and radiant.

Results from a Medium-depth Chemical Peels include improvements in texture and skin tone, reduction in fine wrinkles, age spots, pore size, and dark under-eye circles, and clearer, brighter skin over all.

These effects will last for six months to a year, and improvements may persist if you adhere to usual skincare maintenance regiment with treatments like hydradermabrasion or superficial chemical peels.

Advanced peels

The glow peel – Glycolic Acid 40% (Level 2 Peel: medium) 120$

The 40% Glycolic Acid Peel is generally considered a medium level peel containing a high concentration of Glycolic Acid) The depth of this peel is determined by the number of layers applied during application and the tolerance level of the skin it is applied to. It is recommended that new users start with 1-3 layers for a light/medium peel. Generally 4-6 layers will result in a medium/deep peel and 7-8 layers can result in a deep peel.

Ideal Candidate: Dry mature skin showing visible lines and wrinkles, sensitive skin types should consult with a skin care professional to determine if the 40% Glycolic Peel is an appropriate choice for them.

– Provides a remarkably even exfoliation of the skin
– Reduces fine lines and signs of premature aging by increasing cell turnover – meaning younger healthier cells are now visible on the skin’s surface
– Acne scars (and other scar lesions) respond well to consistent glycolic acid treatment
– Further products and treatments can penetrate deeper as it removes the ‘barrier’ of dead cells and surface grime

Downtime: Mild, depending on how many layers are applied and the tolerance level of the client’s skin.

Brightening Peel – Lactic Acid 40% (Level 2 Peel: Medium to strong) 150$

Lactic acid is an antiwrinkle and pigmentation-fighting ingredient.

A chemical peel works by using a chemical in this case, lactic acid on bare skin. It removes the top layer of skin (epidermis). Some stronger formulas may also target the middle layers of skin (dermis).

Despite the name, your skin doesn’t noticeably “peel” off. What is noticeable, though, are the effects underneath the removed epidermis: smoother and brighter skin.

Lactic acid is specifically used to treat hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other factors that contribute to a dull and uneven complexion. Other benefits of AHAs like lactic acid include improved skin tone and reduced pore appearance.

However, unlike AHAs such as glycolic acid, lactic acid is a bit milder. This makes a lactic acid peel a better choice for sensitive skin. Lactic acid may also be an option if you’ve tried another AHA in the past and found the product too strong.

Clear Peel – Salicylic Acid 30% (Level 2 Peel: Medium) 130$

The Salicylic 30% peel is a deep strength beta hydroxy acid used to clear clogged pores with repeated use. This deep strength peel is appropriate for experienced users only with an oily/acneic skin type and is safe for all skin tones.

WHAT IT IS:
Salicylic acid is a BHA that exfoliates skin and helps to address acne and acne scarring. It also helps with sebum control for an oily skin.

WHAT IT IS FORMULATED TO DO:
Salicylic acid works by softening keratin, a protein that forms part of the skin structure. This helps to loosen dry scaly skin making it easier to remove. Salicylic helps to control the oil production when used regularly.

After Your Peel:
Generously apply Daily Collagen Complex, Hyaluronic Serum or Squalane as needed for tight, dry skin. Use a minimum of broad spectrum SPF 30 every day to protect healing skin. Begin using a daily exfoliator in between peels for long lasting results.

DOWNTIME:
Moderate – The Salicylic 30% peel has moderate downtime. Typically the skin will peel mild to moderately on day 4 or 5 and last about 4-7 days. The skin may turn red during application and can be red or pink a few hours/ days following the peel. You may experience frosting with this peel that may result in darkened areas on the face which will peel off and fade. You can resume to normal exfoliation after one week.

FAQ

A chemical solution is applied to the skin, which makes it “blister” and eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Generally, fair-skinned and light-haired patients are better candidates for chemical peels. If you have darker skin, you may also have good results, depending upon the type of problem being treated. But you also may be more likely to have an uneven skin tone after the procedure.

Skin sags, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to chemical peels. They may need other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures, such as microneedling.

Tell us if you have any history of scarring, cold sores that keep coming back, or facial X-rays.

Before you get a chemical peel, we may ask you to stop taking certain drugs and prepare your skin by using other medications, such as Retin-A, renova, or glycolic acid.

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:
• Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated
• Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin
• Accutane use within the last year
• History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy
• Allergies to aspirin
• Women who are pregnant or actively breastfeeding
• Patients with Vitiligo
• Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system

The esthetician who does your peel will first clean your skin thoroughly. Then she will apply one or more chemical solutions to small areas of your skin. That creates a controlled wound, letting new skin take its place.

During a chemical peel, most people feel a burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. Putting cool compresses on the skin may ease that stinging.

Depending upon the type of chemical peel, a reaction similar to sunburn occurs following the procedure. Peeling usually involves redness followed by scaling that ends within three to seven days. Mild peels may be repeated at one to four-week intervals until you get the look you’re after.

Medium-depth and deep peeling may result in swelling as well as blisters that may break, crust, turn brown, and peel off over a period of seven to 14 days. Medium-depth peels may be repeated in six to 12 months, if necessary.

You’ll need to avoid the sun for several weeks after a chemical peel since your new skin will be fragile. You will need to use a sunscreen FPS above 30.

• One week before the peel avoid waxing, electrolysis, deploritory creams, and laser hair removal.
• Two to three days before the peel discontinue using any prescription topicals such as Retin-A, differin or Tazorac, as well as any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA), beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) or benzoyl peroxide.
• Patients who have had any medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures such as Laser treatments, cosmetic fillers or other surgical procedures should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before receiving a peel.

Your skin will feel tighter and be more red then usual. Your skin may feel tacky and have a yellowish orange tinge that subsides in a few hours. This is due to the Retinoic acid applied to the skin. This is a self neutralizing peel and patients should wait at least 4hours before washing there face that evening.

Peeling will generally start 48-72 hours after your treatment and can last 2-5 days. It is very important not to pick off peeling skin; peeling is minimal and easily controlled with moisturizer. Premature peeling of the skin will result in dry, cracked, raw skin that may develop into hyperpigmentation.

Use of a soap free gentle cleanser shall be used to wash your face, scrubs and wash cloths should be avoided while skin is peeling. Application of a hydrating moisturizer twice a day or as often as necessary is recommended to relieve dryness and control peeling. TNS ceramide cream, Elta intense moisturizer or Neocutis bio cream are all highly suggested. A physical Sunblock must be worn daily. Its best to avoid prolonged sun exposure for 1-week post peel.
