However, the gap between promising preclinical data and proven clinical efficacy for aesthetic use remains wide. The current state of evidence does not support PDRN as a reliable, first-line treatment for skin rejuvenation. The studies are too small, too inconsistent, and too often conflicted to draw confident conclusions about how well it works, how long results last, or how it compares to established treatments.

Sclerotherapy: The Gold Standard for Legs

The procedure is straightforward: a very fine needle (30–32 gauge) is inserted into the target vein, and a small amount of sclerosant is injected. The vein blanches immediately, and over the following weeks, the body gradually absorbs the treated vessel. Compression stockings are worn for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment to improve outcomes.

Sclerotherapy works on all skin types, unlike IPL and some lasers, there’s no light interaction with melanin, so it’s equally effective on dark skin. However, it’s not used on facial veins due to the risk of complications in the delicate facial vascular network. For legs, 2 to 4 sessions typically achieve 70 to 90 percent clearance.

Temporary bruising and mild tenderness are common. Some patients develop hyperpigmentation along the treated vein, this usually fades over 3 to 6 months. Rarely, matting (new tiny veins around the treatment area) can occur. Serious complications are very uncommon with experienced practitioners.
